What your first visit is like

You meet with staff in a private room, and you can ask anything.

Most visits start with a pregnancy test, collected and run here by a nurse, and it reads most accurately about a week after a missed period. If the result is positive, an ultrasound confirms the pregnancy and dates it, either the same day or at a scheduled follow-up.

You can also ask about STI testing and treatment, Pap and breast exams, parenting and childbirth education, breastfeeding education, material support, and maternity housing.

Questions we are asked

How much does a visit cost?
Nothing. That goes for pregnancy testing, ultrasound, and STI testing and treatment. We don't ask for insurance.
When is a pregnancy test accurate?
About a week after your first missed period. Earlier than that a test can read negative when you're pregnant, because the hormone it looks for hasn't risen enough yet.
Do I get an ultrasound the same day?
Sometimes. An ultrasound is performed after a positive test, either the same day or at a scheduled follow-up, depending on our availability.
Do you provide or refer for abortions?
No. Vida does not provide or refer for abortions. We do give you information about all of your options so you can make an informed decision.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, please call first at (920) 731-4354. It means someone's ready for you and you're not waiting.
What should I bring?
Please bring a photo I.D. for an appointment in the Medical Clinic.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. We may need to see you for part of your appointment alone, but your support person can be there for most of your appointment.
Who will I see?
A trained licensed medical professional will perform the ultrasound in a private setting.
